It's alive! Alive, I tell you!

Yeah, 'it' is me.... :)

I apologize to all my fans (both of 'em ;) for not updating in a whopping 12 days! Bad Rob! Bad, bad Rob! I've been through both heaven and hell, but I'm still here! Ya can't touch me! Woohaa. [No, I'm not 'chemically enhanced' right now]

Where to start? Heaven: The soul party was one *BIG* success.... We played 3 sets between 10pm and 3am, and the crowd loved us! When I mingled with the audience later that night, we got nothing but compliments, and some people are already recognizing us from previous gigs. I'm on my way to stardom! [yeah, right ;)] Anyway.... this was one of the best nights of my life so far, all those people (ca. 800) dancing to your music and singing, clapping hands, going wild... This is gonna stick around in my memory-bank for a looooong time. And we've got 4 more concerts on the way this year, with another highlight coming up around christmas: A gig at a X-mas market on the most popular square in town, right in the heart of the city center. There'll be an ice ring, little shops, lots of mulled wine and us playing in the so-called 'mirror-tent'. Can't wait for it!

So needless to say, everything's OK with the band. Work is a different subject. Some mystery-guest-foodsafety-official-guy did a full sweep of the restaurant last week and he found some things that weren't up to McD's high standards. To make things even worse, he showed up on a day where we were understaffed and it even got that far that he had to help scoop french fries. Normally this would've been funny, but I was too stressed out to laugh. The outcome of the visit was that we're getting an official foodsafety check in a month or two. And in the mean time, the boss will be watching closely that everything goes according to procedures. Fun.

Now don't get the impression that we're running a bad restaurant, far from it. It's just that it's almost impossible to meet McD's standards when you're understaffed all of the time. We do what we're supposed to do: serve quality fast food to our guests. All those things around our 'core business', there's where things go a little wrong from time to time (Forgetting to check the freezer-temperatures, not storing the milk according to First-In-First-Out). Awww, shoot, I'm not gonna waste my time defending myself. I run a good restaurant, we make profit, we're understaffed, boss - do something.

So I spent quite some time in and around the restaurant these days. Last weekend was the first time since a week or two where I had two days that had nothing to do with work. I slept, cleaned house, cooked and sang. Drank a nice pink wine with my stir fry chicken..... I need a holiday, but I've been screaming that for months now. I really hope that the boss'll approve that week I wanna go to London. I volunteered for a job at GenCon, and with a little luck I'll have free admittance and free accomodation.

I still need to do a lot of things... Buy groceries, clean more house, paint, get my cellphone fixed, wash my car AGAIN (I did it on friday then parked it under a tree, ugh), and find me a girlfriend. But that last item on my to-do list will still be there in a few weeks, when I've done all other things ;)

Enough for now. Gotta watch soccer. Don't ask me why. Holland never made it to the world cup and Belgium was kicked out by Brazil (ref was bribed, I suspect).
