In Memoriam: my grandfather Cor Hermans

Last night, friday the 25th of September 2009 around 11.15 pm, at the honorable age of 87 years, grandpa finally gave up the fight and passed away in the presence of his four children and their partners. He will be missed, but he is certainly in a better place now. Apart from his four children he is survived by his wife to whom he's been married for 61 years, and 7 grandchildren. Goodbye grandpa, may you have lots of chicken, bees and bunnies to keep wherever you are now. Save some honey for me.

From left to right: Cor junior, grandma, Jos, my mother Susan, Annie. And grandpa in front.

Among the native American Sioux, there is a phrase or saying: "Hoka Hey!"

It has many meanings, depending upon who you ask. To some it means, "Let's roll!". To Hollywood, it means, "It is a good day to die!" But to the ones who made it famous, it means, "Hold fast! There is more!"

Our Deaths are never the end. We come into this world to live, to experience, to rest and then move on to more. Opa Hermans will have his bees and his honey, and they will be waiting for you when it is your time to rest. And in the time of all things, when you come Home to rest, Opa Hermans will be ready to move on once again.

For there are move bees to be raised, more bunnies and chickens to cherish, and more Roberts to bring into their own.

So in Opa Hermans' passing, let there not be a dark sadness, but a Good one! Give voice to your sorrow and pain. Shout it out!

Hoka Hey!

Let all within the Kingdom of Heaven know, that a Warrior comes! His time on this Good Earth is done, and he has fought well. His children bid him farewell and carry on his name in good spirits, and will treasure the time he gave them. And in their time, they too, will have someone to shout for them.

Hoka Hey!

Hold Fast! There Is More!

*hugs* I'm sorry to hear that he is gone, but I know you spent the past few weeks at his side and spending as much time with him as possible. I know you must be grateful for that. I'm sure he's saving a pot of honey for you ;)
