Time flies, a Rob update.

Let's do this by topic, to make some sense of the maelstrom that is my thoughts.

Work:
Getting closer towards the end of another testing period. It's been busy but not as hectic as I feared. However, bossman has warned us that this release was only a warm-up for The Big One that's gonna hit us in a month or so. That'll be six weeks of tackling a mountain of bugfixes and new functionality. (For those still wondering: I'm in the software testing team of Randstad, the big temp-office company. I make sure their applications are tested before they go 'live'). Furthermore, things have been set in motion for my 'graduation' from the so-called Masterclass (a.k.a. the beginner's club) to another business-unit. Usually most of the Masterclassers end up in the Testing & Acceptance department, but I've opted for the unit "Business Information Services". They're the guys that do the functional application management, making sure that the tested new software keeps working once it's installed, helping with the implementation and training users to work with the new stuff. 4 weeks from today I have my official End-of-class evaluation with my boss, my resource manager and the head of the BIS unit. That evaluation will be very important in terms of my next salary. Hooo boy.

Car:
New unit means new car. One that I'll be driving for the next four years (or until I leave the company). The government is trying to get every driver into 'green' cars, so like a good sheep, I'll likely choose between the Toyota Prius and the Honda Civic Hybrid. Personally I'm leaning more towards the latter, but I still have to testdrive the Prius. No Jeff Dunham jokes and quotes, damanique!

Luv.
It proves quite a challenge to maintain a relationship when both parties live quite a way apart and have very busy schedules. We've even come to the point where we have to 'book' our time together in our agenda's. Not the most ideal situation but so far we seem to manage. Berlin will do us both much good. It would be even more wonderful if Dama found a place in Rotterdam to live, but right now she has enough on her plate to be dealing with moving-house related stress, so this plan remains in the fridge for the time being.

Free time.
What little I have is spent as efficiently as possible. I've had friends over for dinner, I relax with some Guitar Hero or Puzzle Quest, I watch some DVD's with the roommates. I should be studying as well for an exam I have coming up in a couple of weeks, *whistles*. And this weekend I'll be in Limburg for a housewarming and to visit the family.

Munny.
Financially I'm starting to climb out of the Valley of Debt. Made a good move switching banks earlier this year, and now every little extra I get (from overtime, not-sick bonus, vacationmoney) is going towards the debt. The little GimmeGimme devil on my shoulder is constantly pulling me towards buying a new PC, but I keep him at bay with rational thinking. a) I don't play that many games on my PC anymore, and b) out of debt means no more red flag behind my name when I go shopping for a house/mortgage somewhere in the next couple of years.

Finally.
Not happy with my weight, even less pleased with my lack of effort. In stead of working out, I lie on the couch playing Guitar Hero. I wish I were more flexible so I could kick myself.
