Today I sampled Speculaasbeer. Mmm. Time for bed now. And yes, I have a slight buzz.

I can't get drunk easily on beer; it takes a few, so I have to really like it. From the sound of things, you must like this brand quite a lot. :)

The great thing about living in the Netherlands is the fact that we're next door to Belgium. When I mention 'beer', I usually mean 'specialty beer' and not 'lager' like Bud, Miller, Heineken, etc.

Lager-type beers have an alcoholpercentage around 5%, meaning that you can have quite a few before the alcohol starts to take effect. Specialty-beers on the other hand range between 5 and 11%, so the strong boys (like Grolsch's Cannon) come dangerously close to the percentage found in wines.

I like to explore when it comes to drinks, so on the rare occasion that I go out and 'have a beer', I try stuff that I haven't had before. So yesterday I ended up with two friends in a specialty-beer-pub, where you can drink belgian beer that's still made by monks, honeybeer, applebeer, liquoricebeer, cherrybeer, beers called "Delerium Tremens", "Guillotine", "Lucifer", etc. etc. So once you've had your taste of belgian beers, it's hard to get back to 'normal' lagers. And of course trying different strong beers on the same night gets you tipsy a whole lot faster.
