Shoot me now

There's a buzz going through the office. Excitement. I was curious what was going on, but once I found out, I wish I'd never asked. A national chain of supermarkets is giving away little smurfs whenever you go shopping there. This morning, apparently, a bunch of my coworkers (reasonably intelligent people, aged 25 to 45) were running around the office with their 'doubles' to try and complete their collection. "I got 3 Gargamels, dammit!". "Does anyone have baby smurf?" This is surreal. Pythonesque.

I have a couple, was going to give them to my brother.

In the meantime I can't leave the AH without some snotty brat asking me for my smurfs as if no-one taught them begging is rude.

Meanwhile, I went crazy when the McDonalds here in the states were giving away little Wizard of Oz dolls with the Happy Meals. Sometimes adults want to relive thier childhood.

EDIT: Even if it's through a little toy.

It's true. Last week someone from the office next door (different company) walked into our office trying to find some Smurfs to trade.

Thing is, we order about 80 euros of food at Albert Heijn a week... we're drowning in Smurfs.
